Development of interactive and updatable country fiches for the analysis of environmental situations and performances of countries

UNEP/GRID-Geneva just started the development of a system of interactive and updatable country fiches for the analysis of environmental situations and performances of 33 countries, listed below. The final product will be accessible through the UNEP World Environment Situation Room.

Eight pillars will be covered: climate change, green economy, biodiversity, forests, water, pollution, sustainable finance and land tenure/governance.

The final product will include key statistical indicators at national/regional levels; key geospatial data and interactive maps; policy analysis on national policies and legislation; environmental analysis performed at national level, including where possible both the traditional domestic analysis (environmental impacts induced over the territory) and a novel reverse footprint analysis (impacts triggered by developed countries on selected countries of analysis –analysis performed by sector). MapX will be used on the geospatial aspects.

The project is funded by the European Commission Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (EU DG-DEVCO).

The 33 countries are located in Africa (Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe), Asia and the Pacific (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines and Vietnam) and Latin America and the Caribbean (Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Paraguay and Peru).
