Development of a system of interactive and updatable country fiches for the analysis of environmental situations and performances of countries

The project aims at developing a system of interactive and updatable country fiches for the analysis of environmental situations and performances of countries. The final product concerns 33 countries and is accessible through the UNEP World Environment Situation Room.
Eight pillars are covered: climate change, green economy, biodiversity, forests, water, pollution, sustainable finance, land tenure/governance.
The final product includes the following components: 1) Web visualization of key statistical indicators at national/regional levels (interactive graphs, maps, tables, some maps being published into MapX). When feasible, distances to policy targets are evaluated and countries/regions can be compared. 2) For each country, key geospatial data and interactive maps, some published into MapX. 3) Policy analysis on national policies and legislation, including a qualitative assessment of ambitions, sustainability and compliance with International Conventions, as well as a list of Multilateral Environmental Agreements memberships and key commitments and documents. 4) Environmental analysis performed at national level, including where possible both the traditional domestic analysis (environmental impacts induced over the territory) and a novel reverse footprint analysis (impacts triggered by developed countries on selected countries of analysis –analysis performed by sector). 5) The final product, integrating the above components, is accessible through the UNEP World Environment Situation Room.
The final product then offers a single-entry point to indicators, policy and environmental analyses linked in the form of interactive country fiches (texts, figures, graphs, maps, tables).
MapX is used for the geospatial aspects.
